The joint venture between Enel X Way and Volkswagen Group starts a partnership with &Charge, company focused on user engagement through its App to improve the electric vehicle charging experience.

By providing a review of the service received at Ewiva’s ultra-fast charging stations, e-drivers can earn “&Charge credits” to be redeemed for coupons to be used for purchases with partner brands on the platform. 

Ewiva, the joint venture between Enel X Way – the Enel Group company entirely dedicated to electric mobility – and the Volkswagen Group, has started a collaboration with &Charge, the innovative platform that, thanks to user involvement, offers value-added services for recharging electric vehicles.

 

Using the &Charge App, e-drivers will be able to solve ‘challenges’ by leaving real-time feedbacks on the Ewiva ultra-fast charging station, pointing out positive aspects and making suggestions on how to improve the charging experience. For example, users will be free to give their opinion on the charging experience, assess the functionality and technical aspects of each charging infrastructure, indicate useful notes on the appearance of the site or the cleanliness of the surroundings.

 

Thanks to user reviews, Ewiva will be able to maintain increasingly high standards of quality and performance across its network from North to South Italy, intercepting any problems even more quickly and directly and intervening promptly to ensure that its infrastructure is increasingly reliable.

 

There are several benefits for users who join Ewiva’s ‘challenges‘ with &Charge and share their reviews: they will be rewarded with &Charge ‘kilometers or credits’ (1 &Charge kilometre = €0.08) that can be redeemed into coupons to be used for purchases useful services in the platform.

 

The &Charge app is available for Android and Apple devices, on Google Play and the App Store respectively and to date already has several hundred thousand ‘&Chargers’ listed across Europe.

Brescia, 13 April 2023. As of today, an additional service for electric cars is active on the A35 Brebemi-Aleatica. Two new Ewiva ultra-fast charging stations have been activated, providing electric car drivers with a total of 8 new High Power Charging (HPC) points, 300 kW each.

The 4 columns in the Adda Nord station and the 4 in the Adda Sud station, near Caravaggio (Bg), are all powered by renewable energy and were built by Ewiva, which represents the largest nationwide ultra-fast charging network, created as a joint venture of Enel X Way and Volkswagen Group to accelerate the development of electric mobility in Italy. Both charging stations are also positioned under a solar canopy made up of photovoltaic panels produced in Enel Green Power’s 3Sun Gigafactory in Sicily.

With these additional electric recharging points, the A35 Brebemi-Aleatica once again confirms its projection towards the future through a decisive path that aims at environmental, economic and social sustainability, while maintaining its uniqueness in terms of safety, infrastructure quality and driving experience in total comfort.
 

 

“GAs early as 2020 our motorway was the first to introduce a concrete facilitation for green vehicles (full electric and LNG) with a 30% discount on tolls, which is still valid today, as well as being the first toll motorway to be equipped with LNG (Liquid Natural Gas) fuel recharging stations”, – says Francesco Bettoni, President of A35 Brebemi. In addition, at the Adda Nord and Adda Sud service stations, there were already other electric charging stations in addition to the Tesla Supercharger”.

In the path towards the decarbonisation of transport, it is worth mentioning that A35 Brebemi and Aleatica have in recent years launched an important project called the Arena of the Future, which, through intelligent collaboration with prestigious partners such as the Milan Polytechnic and major international industrial realities, is arousing enormous interest worldwide. This project has seen the creation of a 1 km circuit where the innovative DWPT (Dynamic Wireless Power Transfer) or dynamic induction technology is being studied for recharging electric vehicles in motion.

With these concrete actions, the A35 confirms itself as a virtuous example and a model to be followed for the future of many motorways, not only Italian. The support of Aleatica, a leading global operator in the transport sector present in 7 countries in Latin America and Europe, which is at the forefront in the study of intelligent, safe and sustainable infrastructures and which is encouraging and coordinating the activities and projects of its subsidiary A35 Brebemi, is fundamental in this respect.

On the motorway sections, from North to South Italy, Ewiva has so far set up more than 15 recharging points, in addition to the more than 20 of Enel X Way, and in Lombardy, in addition to the two new sites along the A35 Brebemi, Ewiva is present in all provinces with another 31 active stations, for a total of 89 recharging points.

A35 Brebemi-Aleatica è il collegamento autostradale direttissimo tra Brescia e Milano, la via più veloce e sicura tra le due città. L’infrastruttura, attiva dal 23 luglio 2014, ha un’estensione di 62,1 km a cui sono state aggiunte la stazione di esazione di Castegnato e le rampe di interconnessione con l’autostrada A4. L’autostrada è raggiungibile dalla città di Brescia attraverso l’autostrada A4 (prendendo la rampa di uscita dopo Brescia Ovest in direzione “A35 Milano – Linate), la Tangenziale Sud di Brescia e la SP19 oppure utilizzando la nuova A21 (Corda Molle). I caselli dell’autostrada sono sei: Chiari Ovest, Calcio, Romano di Lombardia, Bariano, Caravaggio e Treviglio. Superato l’ultimo casello di Treviglio, ci si immette nell’A58 Tangenziale Est Esterna Milano (TEEM) che consente all’A35 Brebemi di raggiungere la A1 all’altezza di Melegnano, la A4 all’altezza di Agrate, Linate e l’Area Metropolitana di Milano tramite due svincoli, a destra, Pozzuolo Martesana e a sinistra Liscate, che sboccano rispettivamente sulla SP103 Cassanese e sulla SP14 Rivoltana. A35 Brebemi, concessionaria autostradale parte del Gruppo Aleatica, ha ricevuto importanti riconoscimenti internazionali, in USA e UK, quale miglior project financing infrastrutturale e miglior project bond europeo.

Enel X Way and Volkswagen collaborate to create Italy’s largest high-power charging network.

• The joint venture Ewiva aims to build a high-power charging (HPC) network of 3,000 charging points across Italy, each with up to 350 kW and 100% powered by renewable energy, accessible for all electric vehicle drivers.
• The first premium recharging station has been inaugurated today in Rome.

Rome, December 13th, 2022 – Enel X Way, the Enel Group’s company dedicated to electric mobility, and the Volkswagen Group announced today the launch of their equally-owned joint venture Ewiva, which aims to accelerate the uptake of electric mobility in Italy promoting the deployment of a reliable and capillary high-power charging (HPC) network across the country. Today’s announcement and opening of Ewiva’s first premium charging station in Rome mark the successful continuation of the close cooperation between the Enel Group and Volkswagen to provide a full e-mobility ecosystem in Italy.

 

 

“This joint venture represents a new milestone in Enel X Way and Enel Group’s ongoing push to spread electric mobility throughout Italy by accelerating the development of a state-of-the-art high-power charging network, which will help make electric vehicles the first choice for drivers,” said Elisabetta Ripa, CEO of Enel X Way. “In the process, and in line with the strategy adopted by Enel X Way in the development of the public charging infrastructure, we are taking an open approach, making the network available for all Mobility Service Providers and drivers of any electric vehicle from all manufacturers.”

 

Thomas Schmall, Volkswagen Group Board Member for Technology and CEO of Volkswagen Group Components, said: “The expansion of the charging infrastructure plays a key role in the success of e-cars. Today, Ewiva is already deploying the largest ultra-fast charging network in Italy, with 750 points, some of which currently awaiting activation, in 233 locations, adding to the approximately 17,000 charging points operated by Enel X Way. The joint venture expects to have charging points in a total of 500 locations by the end of 2023, with the aim to reach 3,000 charging points, each with up to 350 kW and powered by 100% renewable energy, by 2025. Overall, Ewiva will operate more than 800 sites focused on city centers, suburban areas, and main roads used by commuters and tourists. Drivers of all types of electric vehicles from all manufacturers can benefit from the joint venture’s HPC network.

 

Ewiva was launched today in Rome at the grand opening of its first premium recharging station in Via Flaminia 871, which will offer a lounge open to all customers and 14 ultra-fast charging points each with up to 300 kW, all under a solar roof made of PV panels manufactured at Enel Green Power’s 3Sun Gigafactory in Sicily.

 

Enel X Way is the Enel Group’s new company fully dedicated to electric mobility. Currently, Enel X Way operates in 16 countries and manages nearly 430,000 charging points, both directly and through roaming agreements in place around the world. As a global platform for e-Mobility, the company is focused on developing flexible charging technologies and solutions to improve the customer experience and to enable the electrification of transport for consumers, businesses, cities and public administrations.

 

The Volkswagen Group has made charging and energy its core business with the NEW AUTO strategy. Like no other car manufacturer, the company is investing in the development of an open fast-charging network worldwide. By 2025, around 45,000 High Power Charging (HPC) points are planned in Europe, China and the USA together with partners. The product range also includes the entire range of charging solutions for private customers and companies – from the customers’ own wallboxes and the flexible fast-charging station Flexpole to charging services and innovative and smart green-power rates. In the next step, Volkswagen targets to anchor the electric car as a mobile power bank in the energy system creating additional added value for EV customers.
