The expansion of Ewiva’s ultra-fast charging network continues unabated. In the first quarter of 2025, the joint venture of Enel X and Volkswagen Group, which was established to accelerate the development of electric mobility in Italy, activated 97 new charging points (PoCs) at 23 new stations, further strengthening the capillarity of its infrastructure throughout the country.
The extension of Ewiva’s network in the first quarter of 2025 covered many Italian regions, with new activations in both metropolitan areas and small towns, demonstrating its commitment to making electric mobility accessible everywhere.
New ultra-fast charging stations activated across the country, starting in northern Italy: six in Emilia-Romagna, in the municipalities of Castel Maggiore (BO), Rimini, Sassuolo and Castelfranco Emilia, both in the province of Modena, Russi (RA) and Montecchio Nell’Emilia (RE); two in Piedmont, in Turin and Isola d’Asti (AT); one in Lombardy, in Varese; five in Veneto, in San Stino di Livenza (VE), Motta di Livenza (TR), Colceresa Nord and Colceresa Sud, both in the province of Vicenza, and Verona; and finally one in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, in Martignacco (UD) . These are joined by a new charging station in Liguria, in Ceriale (SV).
In Central Italy, Ewiva also strengthened its network with four new charging sites: two in Lazio, in Rome and Montalto di Castro (VT), and two in Tuscany, in Pontassieve and Bagno a Ripoli, both in the province of Florence.
Finally, among the South and Islands, new activations included Basilicata, with a site in Potenza, and Sardinia, with two new sites in the municipalities of Loceri and Tortolì, both in the province of Nuoro.
To ensure a simple, quick and convenient charging experience, all the new stations are strategically placed near urban areas, points of interest or traffic junctions to allow all e-drivers to make the most of their charging time, indulging in a break and taking advantage of the many services in the surrounding area, such as bars, restaurants, supermarkets, stores and other businesses.
At many of the new stations it is possible to pay directly at the Ewiva charging station in contactless mode with debit, credit or prepaid cards from the Mastercard, Visa, Vpay and Maestro circuits, or via Apple Pay and Google Pay. This payment method is in addition to those already available throughout the rest of the Ewiva network, where it is in fact possible to recharge through cards or apps from about 100 different charging service providers (MSPs), or-if one’s vehicle is enabled-through the Plug&Charge feature, which allows one to start charging simply by connecting the vehicle to the column.
Overall, to date Ewiva has built 400 charging stations and more than 1,400 ultra-fast charging points throughout the country.
