The Via Emilia on electric: a weekend of history, art and flavors

With Ewiva itineraries we set out to discover the beauty of the Italian territory through our ultra-fast charging network. With today’s itinerary we take you on an electrifying adventure along the Via Emilia, an ancient route that connects the main cities of Emilia-Romagna. A road trip of about 170 km through 4 stages, perfect for a weekend of history, art and gastronomy.

The Via Emilia on electric: Piacenza
Our itinerary begins in the center of Piacenza, a city rich in history and art. We start in Piazza Cavalli, the beating heart of the city, dominated by the imposing equestrian statues of the Farnese family and the majestic Gothic Palace. Not far away is Piacenza Cathedral, one of the best examples of Romanesque architecture in Italy. Finally, a visit to Palazzo Farnese, which houses museums, exhibitions and historical collections, is not to be missed.

After a stroll through the historic center, you can take a moment to stop at one of the city’s typical restaurants, where you can enjoy pisarei e fasö, a typical Piacenza dish made of gnocchetti and bean sauce.

The Via Emilia by Electric: Parma
The second stop on our itinerary is Parma, about an hour’s drive from Piacenza. It is a center of great cultural and gastronomic richness. In the heart of the city we find the Cathedral, a masterpiece of Romanesque architecture with frescoes by Correggio, and the Baptistery, a splendid building covered in pink marble. Not far away is the Teatro Farnese, a 17th-century theater made entirely of wood that is now part of Parma’s National Gallery museum complex. For lovers of walking, the Ducal Park is the perfect destination to spend a few hours outdoors.

When it comes to gastronomy in Parma, you are spoiled for choice. In one of the city’s many restaurants you can enjoy the unique products of these areas such as Parma ham and Parmigiano Reggiano, as well as traditional dishes such as torta fritta, anolini in brodo, and tagliolini al culatello.

The Via Emilia by Electric: Modena
Our itinerary along the Via Emilia takes us to Modena. The visit begins at the Duomo and the Ghirlandina Tower, both of which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. From the top of the tower there is a breathtaking panoramic view of the city. For motoring enthusiasts, a visit to the Enzo Ferrari Museum, which tells the story of the famous Italian automotive brand with unique car displays and memorabilia, is a must.

Before leaving Modena, you can make a stop at one of the local restaurants where you can sample traditional dishes such as tortellini and zampone or typical products such as Traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Modena.

The Via Emilia on electric: Bologna
Fourth and final stop on our electric tour of the Via Emilia is Bologna. The city tour starts from Piazza Maggiore, dominated by the Basilica of San Petronio, Bologna’s most important church. Not far away are the famous Two Towers, the Asinelli Tower and the Garisenda Tower (closed for construction, will reopen in 2026). Climbing the 498 steps of the Asinelli Tower provides a panoramic view of the city. After a stroll through the streets and under Bologna’s famous arcades, you can indulge in a stop at the Mercato di Mezzo to savor local products or shop among the many stalls of Bolognese specialties.

Tortellini in brodo, lasagna alla Bolognese, tagliatelle, crescentine, salumi: for a gastronomic stop in Bologna, you are spoiled for choice, and the city offers many historic restaurants where you can enjoy any of these dishes.
