Ewiva extends payment with card to more than 100 charging sites in Italy

Milan, April 15, 2024Ewiva, the joint venture of Enel X and Volkswagen Group, announces a new step toward an increasingly widespread and easy-to-use high-power network: the feature that allows people to pay to recharge their electric vehicle with a credit or debit card is now available at 113 Ewiva sites-more than 400 charging points (PoCs) -across the country. In fact, in the first few months of the year there were 43 sites where the service was extended (for a total of 96 PoCs), adding to the more than 70 where it was already available.

In more than 60 provinces throughout Italy – from North to South, including the islands – it is now possible to pay directly at the Ewiva site with debit, credit or prepaid cards of the Mastercard, Visa, Vpay and Maestro circuits, or through Apple Pay and Google Pay, for an even easier recharging experience.

In fact, the service meets not only the needs of occasional customers, such as tourists and all those who have activated a short-term rental of an electric vehicle, but also of regular e-drivers who, in case of an emergency, may need different payment methods to recharge.

Not only that: it is also an ideal solution for those who have decided to opt for a pay-as-you-go top-up, without, therefore, subscribing with a mobility service provider (MSP).

“Making the recharging service more and more accessible: this is our primary goal, and we are very happy to be able to announce a further expansion of the service that allows you to pay with your card, active to date on more than 100 sites throughout Italy,” said Federico Caleno, CEO of Ewiva. “An increasing number of e-drivers will now be able to recharge their vehicles even more easily and quickly. From occasional users to those who decide to opt for a pay-as-you-go service, the project meets every recharging need, freeing the desire for an electric mobility.”

The 43 charging stations where this functionality has been expanded, in line with the European Commission’s Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Regulation (AFIR), are part of the European CEUC project.
